Are you a professional or a hobbiest?
I am a professional full time photographer. I carry all of the business licenses, insurance, and tax liabilities as such. As a professional photographer I am required to carry permits for many places including state and national parks. I carry business liability insurance, and a personal liability umbrella policy. I am happy to provide certificates of insurance (COI) upon request. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Photographic Society of America, and am continually advancing my education to provide the best service always.
Do you work in just a certain area?
While I am based in Northern Colorado I have traveled around the country for my clients! My package prices shown are for sessions within 25 miles of Loveland, CO. Outside of that travel fees do apply and I am happy to discuss those with you.
How do the fees work?
At the time we sign your session contract 25% of your session is due as a date retainer. That does apply towards your total. The remainder of the session fee is due no later than 24 hours before your session. Payment plans are available if you need. I do take all standard forms of payment.
Why is there a minimum order amount on prints?
While working to keep prices as low as possible for all families, we do have minimum purchases to insure that our costs of doing business are covered.
Will you retouch my images?
Yes! For basic skin blemishes, retouching is part of your package price. I do not alter bodies. I firmly believe you are beautiful just how you are!
What is the quality of your equipment?
I shoot with professional Nikon camera bodies and a range of professional Nikon and Sigma lenses. I have a highly secured, triple redundant backed up storage for all of my photos. Can equipment malfunction? Yes...and it has happened to me. I do take every precaution possible to shoot, deliver, and store the highest quality images possible.
Do you take videos?
At this time I do not, but I never say never!
What is your shooting and editing style?
What do you believe?
I believe that I am here to give EVERY single person the photography session that they want and deserve. I believe in love, equality, and diversity. I despise hate.
What happens if my kids won't sit still for the photos?
Then we will run around with them! This is life...REAL life! Will we go for "posed" photos? Absolutely! But there is so much to be found in those real moments. Meltdowns happen. Funny faces happen. That's what life is all about. Plus just think about how great it will be to pull those images out at their graduation or wedding!
How long before my edited photos are ready?
I strive for a 2-3 week delivery time. During especially busy seasons (usually fall senior and family times) it can be right up to that 3 week mark. I encourage clients to plan accordingly if you need your photos by a specific date. I will also keep you updated if that delivery window looks to be longer than 3 weeks.
Who owns the images?
Unless otherwise noted in your contract, Misty Huss Photography owns all copywrite to the images. Upon delivery, your images are yours for personal use. (prints/social media/sharing with family etc...) You however, cannot sell the images or give permission to a third party to use without written consent from Misty Huss Photography.
I will ask for a model release to use your images on my website/marketing/promotions but I also highly respect client's privacy and understand fully if you do not wish to sign a model release.
If you need commercial use of the images, please be sure to discuss this upon inquiry.
Do we have to purchase prints through you?
For standard client sessions you have the option to print elsewhere. However, I have highly trusted professional labs that I use to produce all manner of media from standard prints to canvases, albums, and keepsakes. If you choose to have your images printed elsewhere Misty Huss Photography is not responsible for color or quality issues you may incur.
How long does it take to get my prints/albums/physical products?
As we have learned through the age and supply chain issues that have been associated with Covid, delivery times can vary. At the time of your ordering I will give you a current delivery time frame. Please know that can change and I will provide you with updates as needed. Prints can be 3-6 weeks at the most, albums can be 4-12 weeks, many deliver in a much shorter time. I continually evaluate the labs I work with not only for the highest quality but also the best delivery times.
What happens if you get sick or injured and can't photograph me?
Sickness and accidents happen. We will reschedule for the next available time/date. If you cannot reschedule due to a set event that we are shooting I have a trusted group of photographers that I can recommend. If I cannot preform the session and cannot find a replacement your fees will be refunded.
What if I have to reschedule?
Reach out as soon as you know there is a scheduling issue. All reschedules must be communicated within 24 hours of your scheduled session or you will lose your date retainer. Your rescheduled session must completed within three months of the original date or your date retainer will be forfeited. I will work with you on rescheduling because we both want to capture your memories!
What if I want to have a session that I don't see listed on your site?
Always reach out with questions about a possible session! I love new session ideas and if it is simply something that I am not capable of doing I will give you excellent recommendations of photographers that are!
What if I lose my images?
There is a $100 archival retreval fee for additional digital downloads after your session has been archived. We strongly suggest you make and save at least one copy of the download when you receive it.
Do you travel to meet clients?
Within 25 miles of Loveland CO, I am happy to meet with my clients if it is needed to walk a venue before their session. Outside of that radius I do encourage Zoom meetings but if in person is needed a travel fee will apply. Rarely do I feel like meeting in person is necessary.
Why do some photographers charge more or less than you?
Every single professional photographer has their own unique cost of doing business. I work very hard to keep my CODB down so that I can keep my prices accessible for as many people as possible while still running a successful business. I want to give my clients a great experience and photographs that will last a lifetime.
What is your favorite photograph of all time?
That's like asking who is your favorite child! Ultimately, my favorite is the photograph that stirs emotions.
